Resume Development

Using the detailed information and examples in your self-guided workbook, download the Resume Worksheet and enter your resume information in the sections provided.  Remember to delete the example text as you add yours so that what you submit to us is your information only.  After you complete the worksheet, email it to us at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

A career coach will review your submittal, contacting you if necessary, to close gaps or clarify points. Then, a professional resume will be emailed back to you for review. After you’ve had a chance to review the draft, you’ll submit comments as necessary prior to the resume being finalized and emailed to you as a WORD file.

Cover Letter

Never send your resume without a cover letter. Use this sample cover letter business format to compose a cover letter that gets results. Look for additional examples in your workbook as well as referencing the formula for writing a successful cover letter.

Thank You Letter

Just like your Mom always told you, don’t forget to write your thank you note after someone has taken the time to assist you with your job search. They may have helped you with your strategy, provided referrals, given some insights, or interviewed you. Thank them. And the sooner the better. Try to deliver the thank you letter within 1-2 business days.  View a sample job search thank-you letter format.

References

References will be asked for at some point in your interview process – be prepared. Use this template to compose your professional references. Be sure to ask permission before submitting someone’s name and contact information. We suggest you do not include an e-mail address for each contact. Our experience indicates that unless someone knows the person they are receiving the e-mail from they probably will not open it. It’s more efficient to provide the phone number so the contact can be made and then, if e-mail is the appropriate way to communicate, the relationship will already be established.
